Throughout history, people have formed deep emotional attachments to gemstones. In the East, their connection is shaped by the philosophy of the five elements, believed to influence emotions and fortune. In the West, gemstones have long been symbols of power, protection, and sentiment, from ancient amulets to modern heirlooms. This exhibition seeks to explore and create a space that holds these emotional connections—a container for memory, meaning, and transformation.
Ethereal and delicate, the installation invites reflection: When we encounter gemstones in a modern artistic space, what do we feel? Do we see echoes of the past through contemporary design? Are we simply drawn to their aesthetics? Or do we find a conversation between nature and culture, with gemstones as the bridge between them?
Rooted in Taoism and the philosophy of Wuxing, the space blends tradition with movement and form. Threaded gemstones hang like suspended moments, while a large, stretched fabric cradles stones within its folds, shaping spaces both open and enclosed. Visitors are invited to wander, pause, and connect—immersing themselves in a shifting landscape of light, texture, and feeling.
