How much do we know about our inseparable relationship with water, especially in New York, a city surrounded by abundant water from rivers, creeks, straits, and bays? Is it possible to design a sustainable communal space that tells the story of water’s dual nature - fatal and healing - by triggering people’s sensory and physical activities? Bringing the water from the Hudson River nearby, I designed a recreation and exhibition center for citizens to spend time smelling, tasting, hearing, playing, and soaking in water. Through interactions, people will understand the history and culture while recognizing the importance of protecting natural resources.
